This position serves as the official goodwill ambassador for the College and promotes school spirit for the College and athletic teams through appearances at games, College and community events. Responsibilities

DESCRIPTION:

This position serves as the official goodwill ambassador for the College and promotes school spirit for the College and athletic teams through appearances at games, College and community events.

Essential Functions

Performs as the “Rally Raider” Mascot in uniform at games and events to encourage participation of fans, students and the community. Appears at press and charity events sponsored by the College. Works in conjunction with the College’s public relations, community relations and Athletic Department to be informed and ready to represent the College. Participates in the filming of commercials and other promotional videos. Distributes promotional items, such as T-shirts, water bottles and other College items. Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.

Required Qualifications

Must be a current student of Seminole State College enrolled in at least one course. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Due to costume restrictions, must be able to fit in costume and should be between 5’9” to 6’2” tall, with a medium frame and be able to support the costume weighing approximately 10 lbs.

Experience working in customer service or entertainment/hospitality industry.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Must possess an outgoing personality with the ability to provide excellent customer service and positive, respectful interaction with fans, students, staff and members of the community. Ability to assume the character of “Rally Raider” as outlined by Student Development and in keeping with the Core Values of the College. Must be in good physical condition to wear costume, stand and walk and be active for extended periods of time. Ability to assess individual social clues and level of interaction desired by fans. Ability to work well in a highly collaborative and team-oriented environment. Ability to work in a flexible and fast paced environment, exercising good judgment and discretion without close supervision. Committed to working in a multicultural environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT And SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

Works primarily outdoors in full costume and is exposed to sun, heat and other weather conditions. Wears the Rally Raider costume that weighs up to 50 pounds. Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends. Travels to and from College campuses and events.

Pay Benefits And Work Schedule

$13.00 per hour for approximately 5-10 hours per month.

THIS IS A STUDENT POOL POSITION limited to applicants who are current students of Seminole State College enrolled in at least one course.

Finalists and individuals recommended for employment at Seminole State College

must reside in the State of Florida at the time of hire

and may be subject to background investigations and fingerprinting in compliance with Florida Statute 1001.64; and Seminole State College Policy 1.020; 2.020. Criminal background checks and fingerprinting will be conducted for all new employees, and for rehired employees who have had a break in service for one year or more. The Office of Human Resources will determine which background checks shall be conducted for each position, based upon its review of job descriptions and the responsibilities of the position. These include, but are not limited to, positions that have access to money, master keys, security-sensitive areas and confidential information; positions that have the capability to create, delete, and alter records; and positions that are responsible for the care and instruction of children. The College will conduct various types of background checks which may include, but are not limited to: criminal background, credit check, driver's license check, previous employment and references.
