Responsibilities
Help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
Inform customers of food specials and recommend grocery items to ensure they get what they want and need.
Check product quality to ensure freshness, review "sell by" dates, and take appropriate action.
Provide customers with fresh and non-perishable grocery products they have ordered.
Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained, and temperature logs are maintained.
Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions and make suggestions about products.
Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store.
Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions.
Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs needed.
Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner.
Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
Perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
