duopoly is seeking a Reporter for our broadcast and digital platforms. The successful applicant will have a proven ability to enterprise stories that connect with audiences across all devices and platforms. A typical day could involve general assignment reporting with live shots or returning to station to host/produce live streaming news programs.
Responsibilities
Accurate and balanced reporting of news stories following company standards for journalistic integrity and quality
Contribute daily to our digital platforms by writing web articles or producing/hosting programs for our CTV streaming app
Be creative with how to present stories to engage today’s audiences, tailoring content for different devices and platforms
Collaborate with photographer, producer, assignment desk on live shots as needed
Attend editorial meetings and regularly pitch original story ideas
Set up, write, and package to meet deadlines daily
Develop community contacts and a network of news sources
Attend station partnerships in community
Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communication, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and work‑related experience
Video editing and livestreaming experience preferred
Requirements / Qualifications
Must interact positively and productively with colleagues and the public
Uphold station values and model professionalism on and off the air
Exceptional writing, grammar, and spelling
Excellent communication skills with ability to ad‑lib at length when required
Strong on‑air presentation – must be credible, personable and engaging
Flexible with schedule and willing to work additional hours or days or different shifts and holidays as required by news content
Strong attention to detail
Must be able to accept constructive direction and feedback
Compensation starting at $31/hour, commensurate with experience and skill level.
