Overview
The Salt Lake Tribune, in partnership with Utah Public Radio, is looking for a journalist to cover one of Utah’s most dynamic regions: Cache Valley — home to 140,000 residents, Utah State University, booming businesses, and unparalleled outdoor access.
This is a unique opportunity to tell stories at the intersection of growth, culture, and community. From accountability reporting in local government to features on agriculture, aerospace, business, arts, environment, education, and healthcare — you’ll cover it all.
Your work will appear online at sltrib.com, in print, on Utah Public Radio, and potentially on NPR. You’ll gain experience in multimedia journalism, from breaking news and enterprise reporting to crafting engaging audio stories.
Location:
Logan, Utah (based at UPR headquarters on the USU campus)

What We’re Looking For
Experience developing a beat and cultivating sources
Strong track record of accountability reporting & breaking news
Excellent writing, grammar, and AP style editing skills
Ability to work under deadline pressure while balancing daily, enterprise, and investigative work
Commitment to fairness, accuracy, and diversity in storytelling
Professional social media presence
