Tessera is seeking a detail-oriented and safety-driven Fire Protection Technician to support mission-critical infrastructure at USAFA. This role is responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of fire protection systems in accordance with NFPA, UFC, and DoD standards. The technician ensures all systems—including alarms, suppression equipment, pumps, and support systems—are fully operational, code-compliant, and properly documented. Work is performed in a secure, high-performance environment requiring technical precision, professionalism, and adherence to federal safety protocols.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

Install, inspect, maintain, and repair fire protection systems including alarms, sprinklers, clean agent systems, and fire pumps

Diagnose and service support systems such as compressors, nitrogen generators, and vacuum air systems

Apply NFPA, UFC, and manufacturer specifications to ensure code-compliant installations and repairs

Conduct obstruction investigations, impairment corrections, and preventive maintenance using CMMS documentation

Operate specialized equipment including boom lifts and confined space entry gear in varied environmental conditions

Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work plans to execute fire system layouts and modification

Qualifications:

Minimum 3 years of experience in fire protection systems, preferably in military or federal environments

Factory training and certification in NOTIFIER fire systems required

NICET Fire Alarm Systems Certification Level II preferred; Level III or IV highly desirable

Familiarity with NFPA 25, 72, 2001, and UFC 3-600-01 standards

Experience with clean agent systems (e.g., FM-200, Novec 1230), pre-action, deluge, and foam suppression systems

Proficient in CMMS platforms and formal documentation of inspections and repair

Physical Requirements:

Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance. The physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case-by-case basis.

Reaching, kneeling, walking, standing, and use of repetitive motion for extended periods based on position duties

Repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking; standing or sitting for several hours; climbing in and out of a vehicle; stairs as required

Ability to work effectively under pressure for extended periods

Requirements:

A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance

Access to a federal military installation requires a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or an acceptable alternative, such as a U.S. passport or military ID, in accordance with the REAL ID Act

Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access. A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position
