Personal Financial Counselor, Assignment Ready Counselor, PFC- Lubbock, TX
This position provides coverage in short‑term, surge and on‑demand situations resulting from military needs such as post‑deployment events or coverage of existing counselors absent. Primary responsibilities include the full breadth of personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families at installations.
Responsibilities
Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and families.
Assist service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences.
Develop and make available informational financial materials to service members and families.
Coordinate, publicize, and provide a wide variety of personal financial management classes/workshops on topics across the military lifecycle.
Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication such as web‑based secure chat, video calls, or secure video teleconference as authorized by the OSD FINRED Program Office.
Manage duty‑to‑warn situations according to DoD protocol.
Communicate with leadership and participate in regular supervision, sharing information on trends and issues at assigned installations.
Participate in regular in‑services, training, quality‑improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; associate degree plus 4 years of experience, or high‑school diploma plus 6 years of experience may be considered.
3+ years of financial counseling experience.
Must be a U.S. citizen who speaks fluent English. Bilingual in English and Spanish may be required.
Must obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
Must pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
Must hold one of the following certifications: AFC (Accredited Financial Counselor), CFP (Certified Financial Planner), or ChFC (Chartered Financial Consultant).
