Responsibilities

Construction Documentation:

Develop plans, sections, schedules, details, controls, cost estimates, and specifications for mechanical systems.

Engineering Design Analysis:

Conduct mechanical system selection, energy and life cycle cost analysis, and ensure designs meet energy and sustainable design targets.

Team Engagement:

Coordinate with other disciplines and project stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.

Technical Expertise:

Develop control strategies, calculations, system concepts, layouts, and designs.

Mentorship:

Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical support to junior engineers and staff members, fostering their professional growth.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or architectural engineering or related field from an ABET accredited program. Master’s degree preferred.

11-15 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in the consulting industry.

Professional Engineer (PE) license in the Commonwealth of Virginia or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.

Proficient knowledge of a variety of mechanical system designs, including DX packaged systems, hydronic systems, chilled water plants, heating water plants, and plumbing.

Proficiency in relevant software tools, such as AutoCAD, Revit, and HVAC design software.

Familiarity with relevant codes and guidelines.

Excellent interdisciplinary coordination skills.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
