Peer Support

Provide structured peer support services including recovery planning, transition support, wellness skill-building, and resource linkage.

Facilitate recovery-oriented individual and group sessions focused on hope, empowerment, and self-advocacy.

Apply trauma-informed and person-centered approaches to peer interactions.

Ensure services reflect the scope of practice as defined by the HHSC-approved RSPS framework.

Provide empathetic support by sharing personal recovery experiences, fostering hope, and serving as a role model for individuals in recovery.

Guide individuals in identifying and accessing community resources, services, and activities that support recovery and community integration.

Assist individuals in enhancing communication, social, problem-solving, and self-help skills to promote independence and resilience.

Deliver instruction in-person and via telehealth platforms, ensuring accessibility and engagement.

Documentation and Compliance

Maintain accurate records of services provided, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and confidentiality standards.

Complete documentation in alignment with CDTF requirements, including service type, duration, goals, and outcomes.

Maintain timely, accurate electronic records for all peer support activities using the EHR system.

Participate in chart audits and quality assurance reviews; address compliance feedback promptly.

Adhere to ethical guidelines, maintaining professional boundaries and respecting the dignity and autonomy of individuals served.

Professional Development

Maintain active RSPS certification, completing required continuing education and renewals.

Collaborate with clinical and case management staff to support client care coordination.

Uphold peer support ethics, boundaries, and recovery values within all organizational settings.

Requirements Required

High school diploma or equivalent

Certification as a Recovery Support Peer Specialist (RSPS) or equivalent credential within six months of hire

Minimum of one year of experience in social services, substance use disorder support, or a related field.

Lived experience in recovery or familiarity with recovery communities

Experience working with youth in recovery, behavioral health, education, or social services.

Completion of HHSC-approved Train-the-Trainer program for RSPS Core and Supplemental Training

Strong group facilitation, communication, and documentation skills

Knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations regarding substance use services and peer recovery models.

Experience in program development, supervision, and performance evaluation.

Must have a valid Texas driver license, a minimum of six (6) years of driving experience, and a clean driving record.

Applicants must be twenty-three (23) years of age or older to comply with Rise Recovery’s insurance requirements.

Must maintain automobile insurance coverage, be able to travel as needed, and be able to meet on a consistent basis the driving record requirements of Rise Recovery’s auto insurance carrier if personal vehicle is driven during company business.

Commit to ethical responsibilities, including maintaining confidentiality, establishing appropriate boundaries, and avoiding dual relationships with individuals served.

Preferred

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, education, or a related field

Food Handlers Certification

Strong leadership and team-building skills.

Bilingual in English and Spanish

Excellent written and verbal communication.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain organization in a fast-paced environment.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.

Ability to relate respectfully to individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
