We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with heavy-duty trucks, buses, or construction equipment and possess strong technical knowledge of diesel engines and related systems.
Responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance on diesel engines and systems, including oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections,
and fluid level checks with minimal supervision and in a timely manner.
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and engine problems using diagnostic tools and manual inspection.
Order and track necessary parts and supplies to complete repairs in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Repair and troubleshoot various components, including EPA exhaust systems, engines, transmissions,
differentials, turbochargers, and fuel system components.
Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company standards.
Maintain accurate service/repair records and clean/safe work environment.
Use specialized tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
Ensure vehicles are well-maintained and safe for drivers.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
2+ years of experience in diesel engine maintenance and repair
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and electrical systems
Experience using diagnostic tools and repair software
Ability to read and interpret service manuals, technical documents, and schematics
Proficient in using hand tools and power tools
Basic computer skills for maintenance logs and diagnostic software
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Good communication, teamwork, and customer service skills
Ability to understand and adhere to specific instructions, guidelines, rules, regulations,
and other established information.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Must perform all work in compliance with DOT, OSHA, and all Dumpsters.com safety and
maintenance policies, including proper tool selection and use, PPE, machine
guarding, and established safety practices.
Willingness to travel as needed within the service area (customer yards, nearby locations,
and training sites) and work the required schedule and location.
Education
High school diploma or GED
Completion of a diesel technology or automotive program from a technical or trade school
preferred
Valid driver's license required; CDL (Commercial Driver's License) preferred
Physical Requirements
Ability to perform work in a garage/shop environment and occasionally outdoors
Ability to work safely at heights using appropriate ladders and elevated platforms
Ability to lift up to 50100 lbs regularly
Ability to maintain a constant state of alertness and work safely
Ability to work in various weather conditions and on/under heavy equipment
Extended periods of standing, walking, kneeling, climbing, bending, crouching, and
sitting
May involve exposure to noise, fumes, and heavy machinery
