About the Role The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will perform routine maintenance and servicing of heavy equipment and trucks, including but not limited to diagnostics, inspections, parts replacement and system overhauls.
Responsibilities
Inspecting trucks, cranes, bulldozers, and other heavy equipment for proper performance
Diagnostics using computerized testing equipment
Enter data in maintenance management system
Cleaning, lubricating, and conducting routine services
Cleaning and servicing of machine attachments, such as winches, blades and side booms.
Perform major repairs when necessary
Report damaged or faulty equipment, including safety concerns/hazards or defects to leadership on site when identified
Perform emergency repairs in the field
Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Minimum Job Qualifications
High School diploma or GED preferred
State issued, valid Driver’s License
Preferred Job Qualifications
One (1) or more years’ experience with heavy equipment maintenance required, including diesel engine repair, preferably in the compost industry
Knowledge of location and function of major parts and systems on light & heavy equipment
Proficient understanding of federal, state, and local job site health and safety rules, regulations, and best practices
Ability to perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on equipment
Proficiency with tools, machinery, and repair equipment
Ability to perform routine visual and manual inspections to identify leaks, wear, and potential issues
Knowledge of PM schedules and documentation for heavy machinery
Ability to use company maintenance software
Recordkeeping skills for maintenance logs, inventory, and service histories
Communicate effectively with team members and external customers
Ability to work independently with minimal direction
Ability to be a team-player for overall company success
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Normal work environment is outdoors, with exposure to all weather conditions, dirt, high levels of noise, smells/odors and at times exposure to dangerous and/or toxic substances requiring necessary precautions, including PPE.
The physical demands described here are representative of those which must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Position requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, hearing protection, safety-toed boots, utility gloves, hard hat, reflective vest, and safety glasses.
Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination necessary to utilize tools and other equipment necessary to perform job duties
Auditory and visual acuity to monitor surroundings, equipment sounds, and safety signals (with or without corrective devices).
Frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, climbing, and kneeling required in outdoor and uneven terrain environments.
Tolerance to work in environments with strong odors, dust, humidity, and varying weather conditions (hot, cold, wet), and handle oils, fuels and other necessary liquids/chemicals.
Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 35 pounds regularly, and up to 50 lbs. with assistance.

Pay Rate $25.00
Hours can range from Monday-Friday, 7am-7pm, including weekends, with some variations per business demands.
