IXL Learning - San Mateo, California - Full time IXL Learning, developer of personalized learning products used by millions of people globally, is seeking a psychometrician to oversee the technical quality of IXL's specialized assessments. In this role, you'll collaborate with curriculum designers, research scientists, and product managers to create, maintain, and improve student assessments. Additionally, you'll play a key role in advancing IXL's assessment strategy, as well as conducting and publishing analyses to ensure fair, accurate, and equitable assessment experiences for all learners.

This is a full-time position in our San Mateo, CA headquarters office. The work schedule for this role is Monday-Friday in the office with the option to work from home one day per week.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Develop modern, widely used, computer-adaptive tests for K–12 education, including universal screening and diagnostic assessments for math and ELA

Conduct classical and IRT analyses of test data, including item calibration, standard-setting, scoring, scaling, equating, score reporting, and quality assurance analyses

Perform reliability and validity analyses and collaborate with research scientists to document development processes and create technical reports

Collaborate with content experts to create and curate item pools

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Ph.D. in Education Measurement, Psychometrics, Quantitative Psychology, Statistics, or a related field

3+ years of active experience in new test development, computer-adaptive testing, item pool maintenance, standard-setting, equating, and validity studies

Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and decision-making skills

Can-do attitude with an openness to others' ideas

Willingness to innovate and find new, efficient solutions to complex problems

Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English

Ability to summarize complex technical information and communicate it to a variety of audiences

Fluency in computer/statistical programming (e.g., R, Python, SQL, etc.)

Familiarity with K–12 education is a plus

Knowledge of mobile and web technologies is a plus

The base salary range for this full-time position is $100,000 to $140,000 + benefits. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
