The Production Manager is responsible for the culture, planning, coordinating, and overseeing daily manufacturing operations for commercial HVAC equipment to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives are met. This role leads production teams, manages schedules and resources, and drives continuous improvement across fabrication, assembly, and test operations. The Production Manager collaborates closely with engineering, supply chain, quality, and maintenance to ensure consistent product flow, adherence to specifications, and compliance with regulatory and safety standards while meeting customer demand and operational performance targets.

Key Responsibilities Team Leadership:

Supervise and mentor production supervisors, team leads, and operators; set performance goals and conduct evaluations. Manage Production Schedule:

Develop and implement plans to meet production schedules that satisfy customer demand, quality expectations, and established ship dates. Supervise Staff:

Lead and motivate production teams, monitor performance, evaluate staff, and identify training needs. Team Leadership:

Supervise and mentor production supervisors, team leads, and operators; set performance goals and conduct evaluations. (Is this better than Supervise Staff) Resource Management:

manage the allocation of resources, including personnel, materials, and equipment to meet production requirements. Safety Compliance:

Ensure compliance with company safety policies. Quality Control:

Work with Quality Assurance to ensure products meet specifications and resolve quality issues quickly. Continuous Improvement:

Promote a culture of continuous improvement to eliminate issues that disrupt the production process. Collaboration:

Ensures open communication and effective collaboration between production teams and supporting departments to prevent production delays, quality issues, and safety risks. Work with Maintenance to develop and implement preventative maintenance plans:

Creating schedules for routine inspections, cleaning, and servicing of equipment to prevent breakdowns and extend asset lifespan. Reporting and Analysis:

Generate reports on production KPIs, activities, and present to stakeholders. Process Compliance:

Ensures all production activities comply with established processes, work instructions, quality standards, and safety requirements to achieve consistent and repeatable results.

Required Skills Leadership:

Ability to supervise, motivate, and manage a team effectively. Administration and Management:

Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources. Communication:

Strong communication skills to convey information effectively to staff, management, and other departments. Critical Thinking:

Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Financial Management:

Comprehension of financial statements and the impacts of costs on gross margin and net revenue. Technical and Analytical Skills:

Proficiency in relevant software and the ability to analyze data to improve processes. Understanding of Production Processes:

Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods. Problem-solving Skills:

Diagnosing equipment production and related issues, identifying root causes, and developing effective solutions. Regulatory Knowledge:

Knowledge of OSHA and EPA requirements. Lean Manufacturing:

Demonstrate the ability to apply lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste, improve process flow, and increase productivity while maintaining quality and safety. Time Management:

Strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Experience 10+ years of experience in manufacturing. 5+ years of experience in leadership positions. 3+ years of experience as a production manager.

Safety / Physical Requirements This position requires the incumbent’s presence on site in the plant/in the office for a minimum of 40 hours per week. Incumbent must be able to access manufacturing and assembly areas on the shop floor in order to inspect units, investigate problems and/or potential solutions to problems, and to prove out potential solutions to problems. Capable of lifting/moving parts weighing 50 lbs. or less. Must pass background check and drug test. Requires bending, stooping and standing. Must be able to stand from six (6) to eight (8) hours per day. (Overtime may extend the time period.) Good visual and spatial perception.
