This role focuses on understanding, in detail, how each channel functions and integrates, when and why it should be used, and how channels collectively support business and marketing objectives.

Rather than owning hands‑on technical configuration or detailed journey design, the strategist provides strategic direction, defined processes in accordance to legal compliance, documented guidelines, and alignment—ensuring channels are stood up and used intentionally, consistently, and in line with platform best practices and organizational goals.

What You Will Do Channel Strategy & Functional Expertise

Serve as a subject‑matter expert on channel functionality and best‑practice usage

Define and document data requirements and flow for each channel enablement and activation

Channel Enablement & Planning

Partner with marketing and business teams to translate objectives into appropriate channel approaches

Guide channel prioritization and sequencing based on business needs, scale, and maturity

Support channel standup efforts by ensuring strategic intent is clearly defined before and during implementation

Platform & Capability Advisory

Maintain a strong understanding of marketing cloud capabilities, feature sets, and roadmap considerations

Advise stakeholders and technical teams on how platform capabilities align to channel strategies

Evaluate new channel features or tools and recommend adoption based on strategic value

Governance, Standards & Measurement

Define and document governance models for channel usage, including frequency, ownership, and experience standards in partnership with the Privacy Center of Excellence

Establish success metrics and KPIs for channel performance and effectiveness

Ensure channels are used consistently and responsibly, with attention to consent, compliance, and brand standards

Stakeholder Collaboration

Act as a strategic advisor to marketing leadership, campaign teams, and technology partners

Facilitate alignment discussions and working sessions focused on channel purpose, capability, and outcomes

Ensure shared understanding between business and technical teams without owning day‑to‑day execution

What You Will Have Customer Focus:

Knowledge of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and ability to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions. Creativity:

Knowledge of the approaches, tools, and techniques for promoting creative, original thinking and ability to apply it to a variety of business situations. Relationship Management:

Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers. Technical Excellence:

Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges. Strategic Thinking:

Knowledge of the importance of “big picture” thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization. Digital Marketing:

Knowledge of processes, techniques, and platforms of digital marketing; ability to implement or manage digital marketing programs.

Considerations For Top Candidates Required Qualifications

Experience in digital marketing, CRM, or marketing technology strategy

Strong understanding of common marketing channels and their functional roles within enterprise marketing ecosystems

Experience defining channel strategies, operating models, or governance frameworks

Ability to translate business goals into clear, channel‑level strategic guidance
