The Position

Richards is seeking an experienced, motivated and results‑oriented Shipping Specialist to help elevate our shipping operations in Cincinnati. The Shipping Specialist will play a key role in ensuring our products are shipped accurately, efficiently and in compliance with ISO procedures and company standards. This position is responsible for all outbound shipping functions, including packaging finished products, preparing and processing shipping documentation, coordinating freight carrier pick‑ups and maintaining inventory of shipping supplies to support continuous operations. Package and prepare products for shipment in compliance with ISO procedures and customer requirements. Use foam packaging systems, pre‑molded foam cushions, bubble wrap, boxes, labeling, bagging, pallets of various sizes and strapping. Generate and verify packing lists, shipping documents (including BOLs) and system entries for accuracy. Determine the most efficient and cost‑effective shipping method to ensure customers receive undamaged products on time. Schedule and coordinate carrier pick‑ups to ensure timely delivery of orders. Maintain a clean, organized and efficient shipping area. Monitor shipping supply inventory and reorder as needed to support uninterrupted operations. Collaborate with production and customer service teams to ensure accurate and on‑time shipments. Provide shipping‑related customer support via phone and email in a professional and timely manner. Identify and resolve shipping or order issues as they arise. Follow all safety regulations, maintain a clean work environment and ensure equipment is properly maintained. Safely move finished goods and packaged materials using equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, conveyors and hoists. Utilize basic computer and data entry skills; experience with shipping or inventory management software is preferred. Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high levels of accuracy and productivity – self‑starter and self‑managed. Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements that will reduce errors, improve workflow and increase customer satisfaction. Additional duties may include receiving, barstock, saws and other department duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor and other management as needed. Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 5 years of shipping experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of shipping procedures and carrier options (e.g., determining when to use LTL vs. parcel). Familiarity with safety standards and proper use of hand tools and material handling equipment. Proficient computer skills with experience in data entry and shipping systems. Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to lift heavy packages and handle products weighing 50–200 lbs. using appropriate equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hoist, etc). Ability to stand for extended periods (up to eight or more hours per day). Must follow all company safety policies and wear required PPE, including safety glasses, while in the shop area.
