Electrical Inspector Plans Examiner
Location:
Broward County, FL (Hollywood)
Responsibilities
Perform daily field inspections of residential, commercial, and public facility construction projects.
Interact with the public and explain technical information to both technically and non-technically trained individuals.
Review residential and commercial plans and engineering calculations for building components to ensure compliance with applicable codes.
Provide recommendations regarding interpretations of City, State, Federal, and construction standards, as well as local ordinances.
Maintain accurate records to document inspections, test results, and additional details pertaining to inspections.
Maintain computer logs of inspection reports, entering inspection results into permitting software.
Perform other related duties as required.
Required Skills
Extensive knowledge of local building codes and current construction procedures/technology.
Experience with interpretation of codes in the field providing code‑compliant solutions.
Ability to positively interact with staff members, public, contractors, governmental entities, and clientele.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Good time management, organization, and attention to detail.
Demonstrated initiative and independent judgment.
Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast‑paced atmosphere.
Familiarity with current editions of International Building Codes.
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
Licenses & Certifications
Florida DBPR Standard Inspector license in Electrical (required).
Florida DBPR Standard Plan Review license in Electrical (required).
FL DBPR Electrical Contractor of Master Electrician license (required).
