Position Overview As a Broadband Specialist I (Field Technician), you will be primarily focused on new installations of our cable television and broadband services. You’ll drive a company van, visit customer homes, and represent Mediacom every day to our customers. Duties include installation, changes of service, outlet installation, disconnection of service, payment collection, and special requests.

Position Responsibilities
Complete customer drop installations (exterior and interior) from tap to antenna terminals in single and multiple unit dwellings.
Perform new connects, reconnects, requested and non‑pay disconnects; add outlets; install/remove converters; upgrade or downgrade service.
Analyze picture quality and judge acceptability of picture after cable installation.
Use hand tools, custom cable equipment, and power tools as required.
Complete required paperwork as prescribed by system management.
Measure signal levels using a field strength meter; adjust levels to resolve installation problems.
Install connectors on drop cable and tap‑off devices, maintaining proper clearances.
Climb poles or ladders or other structures safely using safety harnesses.
Lift loads up to 100 lbs and work in confined spaces such as crawl spaces.
Use and maintain a VOM or DMM to check for open/short circuits and voltage levels.
Read drop system layouts from blueprints.
Explain FCC rules and company policies to customers.
Drive company vehicles and maintain proper upkeep and maintenance, including bucket truck operation.
Generate additional company revenue through sales techniques and promotion of product options.
Perform other duties such as cleanup, salvage of damaged materials, and assistance to other employees as directed.
Adhere to applicable codes, guidelines, and company procedures to provide an outstanding customer experience.
Position Requirements
No experience required.
High school diploma or GED required.
Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record required.
Basic knowledge of mechanical and consumer devices.
Ability to interact and communicate with customers and co‑workers.
Ability to work in high or tight spaces and all weather conditions.
Acceptable ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime when required.
Physical Requirements
Physical effort with frequent handling of heavy objects (≈50–100 lbs.) and heavy hand tools.
