Overview
Recruitment Number 25-124KS , Judicial Clerk IV, SR-16*, Honolulu, Oahu. *Salary rate effective 07/01/2025. Supervises and participates in the performance of the full range and variety of court clerical and customer service work in the preparation, processing, and maintenance of court records for a division within the Circuit, District, Family, Land/Tax Appeal or Appellate Courts; and performs other related duties as required.

Performs duties in the preparation, processing, and maintenance of court records for a division within the Circuit, District, Family, Land/Tax Appeal or Appellate Courts.
Qualifications
Education Requirement:
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Excess experience or work experience requiring reading/comprehension and applying written directions or high verbal skill may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
General Experience:
Two (2) years of general clerical work experience.
Specialized Experience:
One and one-half (1-1/2) years of work experience in a court, legal, criminal justice, law enforcement, or corrections setting, including examining, preparing and/or processing legal forms and documents. For Judicial Clerk IV, at least one (1) year of Specialized Experience must be comparable to that performed at the Judicial Clerk III level.
Supervisory Aptitude:
Demonstrated supervisory aptitude through assignments with supervisory responsibilities, team leadership, or applicable training and favorable evaluations.
Skill Requirement:
Ability to type 40 net words per minute. Proficiency may be tested by the appointing authority. Failure to meet proficiency may suspend eligibility.
Substitutions Allowed:
Education may substitute General Experience: 15 semester credits = 6 months of General Experience, up to 2 years maximum.
Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience:
15 semester credits in paralegal, legal studies, law program, or closely related field may substitute for 6 months of Specialized Experience (up to 1 year).
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Political Science, or closely related field may substitute for 1 year of Specialized Experience.
Selective Certification Requirement – Driver's License:
Some positions require a current and valid driver's license to operate a motor vehicle.
Qualification for Firearms (Lautenberg):
Some positions require qualification to possess firearm or ammunition per state and federal laws (e.g., no misdemeanor or felony domestic violence conviction).
