Ayden Healthcare of Wauseon is currently seeking Respiratory Therapist’s - RT's.
Position Summary of the Respiratory Therapist RT: The primary purpose of this position is to provide direct respiratory care to residents to restore pulmonary function, alleviate pain, and support life by planning and administering medically prescribed respiratory therapy. This is not a traveling position; the setting is in a skilled and long-term nursing care facility.
Qualifications of the Respiratory Therapist RT:
Current valid Licensed Respiratory Therapist credential issued in the state where the person will practice.
Thorough knowledge of respiratory techniques, practices, procedures, and equipment used in the assigned unit.
Ability to demonstrate leadership, organizational skills, and a positive attitude to guide nursing staff.
Up-to-date physical assessment skills and comprehensive knowledge of respiratory principles.
CPR certification.
Recent experience in geriatric or rehabilitative nursing preferred.
Essential Functions of the Respiratory Therapist RT:
Meet resident goals and needs, providing quality care through pulmonary function tests, evaluations, and treatment plan development in consultation with physicians.
Administer inhalants, operate mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators.
Perform bronchopulmonary drainage, assist with breathing exercises, monitor physiological responses, and direct treatments by nursing staff.
Evaluate treatment effects, observe patient progress, and recommend adjustments.
Participate in discharge planning and follow-up care, including home exercise programs and patient education.
Document care services accurately in resident records.
Collaborate with the healthcare team and participate in facility surveys and inspections.
Manage conflicts effectively and address resident and family concerns.
Additional Responsibilities:
Perform pulmonary function tests, assess evaluations, and determine treatment plans.
Assist patients in achieving treatment goals and support life through various respiratory therapies.
Supervise and direct respiratory treatments administered by aides, technicians, and assistants.
Complete discharge planning in collaboration with healthcare team members.
