Job Description As a
Pipe Fitter , you will work in Morgan City, LA, with a team of Pipe Fitters to achieve maximum production while maintaining quality standards and adhering to company policies. You will be expected to foster a positive and motivated team environment.
To succeed, you must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily, possess strong mechanical aptitude, follow directions, and have experience in the trade, including interpreting engineering drawings and understanding ship terminology. Ability to interpret job specifications and work on marine vessels is essential.
Key Responsibilities Include
Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine layout requirements.
Cut openings for pipes in walls, floors, and ceilings using hand or power tools.
Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe to required specifications.
Test systems for leaks and perform system flushing.
Install clamps, brackets, and hangers to support piping systems.
Install pipe systems on vessels safely and efficiently.
Rig equipment following OSHA requirements.
Inspect work, identify issues, and take corrective actions.
Adhere to quality procedures and work safely.
Work as part of a team to meet daily goals and improve communication and flexibility.
Assist in waste control and equipment maintenance.
Be prepared to step into supervisory roles when needed.
Work towards delivering vessels on time, start shifts on time, and maintain a clean work area.
Education/Experience
At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
Pass the 1st Class Pipe Fitters’ tests (written ≥70%, practical ≥90%).
Soft Skills Language Skills
Ability to read and understand instructions, memos, and write simple correspondence.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to perform basic calculations and measurements using the metric system.
Reasoning Ability
Apply common sense to carry out instructions from written, oral, or diagrammatic sources.
Physical Demands
Ability to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, and stand for prolonged periods.
Lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs occasionally and 20 lbs frequently.
Work at heights, in confined spaces, and in various environmental conditions.
Use PPE properly and safely.
Work Environment Exposure to humid conditions, mechanical parts, heights, weather, fumes, and loud noise. PPE is required. Reasonable accommodations are available for disabilities.
Additional Requirements
US Citizenship or Naturalization Certificate required.
