Mechanical Equipment Estimator - Kiewit Nuclear Solutions Position Overview As a Mechanical Equipment Estimator, you will prepare, review, and present estimates for projects in the nuclear power industry. In this role, you will be responsible for performing construction installation manhour and cost analysis, coordinating with multiple internal construction discipline estimators, and acquiring pricing for construction support services.

We are seeking experienced mechanical equipment estimators and experienced field engineers to join our team. At Kiewit, we are an innovative team of engineers, designers, and estimators that support projects throughout the company. Our staff leads and collaborates with Kiewit’s module fabrication and construction teams to approach construction-driven engineering with a focus on safe, cost‑effective, and innovative designs that achieve client expectations and further Kiewit’s legacy of excellence.

Location The position is located in Lenexa, KS, Houston, TX, or Oak Ridge, TN.

Responsibilities

Develop mechanical equipment estimates for complex EPC and bid/build projects.

Analyze drawings and specifications to determine installation quantities and equipment needs.

Prepare and review bid packages for subcontractors and suppliers.

Create crane and equipment plans for mechanical installations.

Review RFPs and project documents to ensure full scope understanding.

Present estimates to internal leadership and external clients.

Collaborate with engineering and construction teams to resolve scope gaps.

Maintain professional relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.

Stay current on industry trends, tools, and construction methods.

Mentor and train junior engineers and estimators.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Construction‑related field, or equivalent experience.

2‑4 years of construction, field, or estimating experience.

Strong knowledge of mechanical scopes in large‑scale EPC or bid/build projects.

Proficient in blueprint reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and P&IDs.

Excellent attention to detail, communication, and leadership skills.

Skilled in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Experience with Bluebeam, Hard Dollar, 3D Lift Plan, and/or SketchUp preferred.

Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.

Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.

May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.

Base Compensation $95,000/yr - $99,000/yr
