The Naval Nuclear Laboratory develops advanced naval nuclear propulsion technology for the safety and reliability of our Navy\'s submarine and aircraft fleet. We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team as part of the Propulsion Plant Team Trainer (PPTT) project, a multi-site organization engaged in the design, production, testing, and delivery of advanced training simulators. The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineers across multiple locations, review and disposition supplier mechanical design submittals to validate designs based on technical requirements, interface with stakeholders to ensure project objectives are satisfied, and review static structural analyses of designs.

Requirements
Active DOE L clearance or DOD equivalent to be considered.
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university
Minimum of 3 years of work experience as a Mechanical Engineer
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience with SolidWorks or equivalent 3D modeling software
Experience with Model Based Design
Experience supporting design reviews and technical interchanges with suppliers
Experience reviewing static structural analyses (e.g. FEA)
Ability to review, understand, and apply relevant engineering codes and standards (e.g. ASME, AWS)
Experience with Design for Manufacturability and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
Experience reviewing designs for joining processes (e.g. welding)
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Ability to think creatively and make recommendations to senior project personnel
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products
