Overview
Senior Insurance Business Development Representative - Medical Professional Liability role at ProAssurance. This position supports the MPL line of business and can be fully remote in the Eastern, Central, or Mountain time zones. The Senior Business Development Representative will manage broker relations and be responsible for growing those books of business, in alignment with the MPL Strategic Plan. Collaboration with underwriting and other teams is essential to success. What you'll do
30% - Broker Team Relations and Education: Build strong relationships with account and production teams of brokers representing 80% of regional revenue; provide established tools and educational content; act as a guide to ProAssurance resources; develop and manage growth plans with appointed brokers and grow those books. 25% - Company Presentation and Promotion: Represent company culture, values, and mission in public settings; serve as primary company representative at industry or client events; meet with brokers regularly. 15% - Broker Relations: Build relationships with leadership of tier two appointed brokers; provide established tools and educational content; guide ProAssurance resources for account and production teams; grow books with assigned brokers; present with production teams to brokers and agents. 10% - Cross Department Collaboration: Work with other MPL departments to promote revenue growth; establish trustworthy, mutually beneficial working relationships with regional teams in other departments. 10% - Market Analysis: Gather market intelligence from brokers using established formats; review insurance and medical industry information resources; analyze market potential of regions, products, or healthcare market segments. 5% - Financial Management: Establish budget items related to broker relations, sponsorships, and events with the Regional Director; manage to the established budget using available financial reports. 5% - Perform special projects as directed by management. What we're looking for
Bachelor’s degree in sales, RMI, or other business-related field, or eight years of relevant experience in lieu of degree. Minimum five years of casualty insurance experience in business development, underwriting, or claims in the medical professional liability sector. Knowledge of medical professional liability insurance products, distribution channels, industry, and environment. Critical thinker with strategic orientation and strong organizational skills; negotiation and problem-solving skills; proven ability to develop strong relationships and influence management. Good presentation, verbal, and writing skills; ability to facilitate group meetings; ability to work independently with little oversight; adaptable to change. Insurance agent’s license in applicable state(s) if required; valid driver’s license; travel up to 50% of the time. Salary and benefits
