Wente Family Estates Essential Functions
Operates mowers for the mowing of greens, collars, approaches, tees, fairways, roughs, and natives. Operates string trimmers for the trimming and edging of grasses in various areas. Operates backpack blowers for cleaning of debris, leaves, and other materials. Operates hand and machine powered equipment for raking and maintaining sand bunkers. Operates hand and machine powered equipment for edging and cleaning of cart paths and curbs. Conducts course setup daily (picking up broken tees and trash, filling divots, setting tee markers, changing hole locations, fixing ball marks, moving rope and stake, maintaining ball washers, cleaning restrooms, and removing grass clippings and other debris from cart paths and tee boxes). Applies chemicals and fertilizes under the direct supervision of a certified applicator. Applies water to areas of the golf course and landscapes using a watering hose and other small tools. Helps in project work – including but not limited to sod work, drainage, bunker maintenance, overseeding, aeration, and other cultural practices and projects. Develops, nurtures, and sustains collaborative working relationships with all management and staff. Works with mechanics to continue to improve maintenance schedules and systems. Ensures all equipment systems are working properly before using equipment in the field. Refills fuel of equipment used daily. Cleans equipment daily and reports problems or failures to Equipment Manager or supervisor immediately. Provides basic preventative maintenance on equipment as directed by the Equipment Manager. Performs other duties as directed by supervisor. Miscellaneous
Provides protection of all company assets. Maintains professional housekeeping standards throughout entire facility. Complies with all OSHA, Federal, State, and Company operating requirements. Using two hands to drive equipment, or properly handle tools Reaching with hand and arms, grasping objects, pushing / pulling approximately 10-50 lbs. Bending over, squatting or kneeling to pull weeds, fix ball marks, fill divots, move tee markers, change hole locations, etc… Twisting motion while using mowing equipment and changing hole locations. Sitting in a cart or on mowing or cultivating equipment for up to 8 hours in a day Standing / walking using various tools for up to 8 hours in a day Hearing sufficient to understand conversations, both in person, on the telephone, or by radio Frequently (1-3 – 2/3 Total Time) Required To
Getting on and off ride on equipment Getting in and out of golf carts Lifting to 50 lbs. of sand, seed, fertilizer bags, sod rolls, or other materials / equipment Using arms and back to start string start equipment like weed eaters, mowers, and blowers Occasionally (up To 1/3 Total Time) Required To
Climbing stairs Use of hands and wrist for unlocking doors, changing hole locations, filling divots, edging sprinkler heads, and hand watering Working in extreme outdoor temperatures of over 90 degrees and under 32 degrees Working for more than 10 hours in a row Working a split shift V. Non-Physical Demands/Qualifications
An excellent background in golf or landscape maintenance Knowledge of the game of golf An optimistic person who thrives on challenges, leads by example and readily adapts in a competitive environment. Spanish speaking is a plus but is not required. Ability to follow oral and written directions. Ability to operate various types of equipment safely (tractors, mowers, spray equipment, rollers, and small equipment). Must be able to operate under deadlines and a high degree of pressure. VI. Environmental Conditions
The golf course is an area with varying terrain and climate in which the equipment operator will be required to go out-of-doors, and into various areas within the property subjecting them to variations in temperature and humidity. VII. Sustainability Values Statement
The Equipment Operator will support environmental sustainability by utilizing water responsibly, using chemicals and fertilizers in accordance with their labels, and by protecting and caring for the natural environments of animals inhabiting our properties. Seniority level
