The referenced pay range represents the first and last step pay rates for this job, as set forth in the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Individual pay will be set in accordance with terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
Responsibilities:
Provides service support to the customer base within the Medical Center, maintaining the proper environment to support its functions.
Backfills for the duties of the Refrigeration Mechanic A as required.
Maintains uninterrupted services to a diverse customer base, including trauma centers, research, and teaching facilities.
Complies with safety regulations and policies of the University of Rochester, MCFO, and all relevant agencies.
Supervision and Direction Exercised:
Receives minimal direction from the HVAC Planner/Schedulers and HVAC Manager of Medical Center Facilities Operations. Machines and Equipment Used:
Computer, telephone, hand tools, welding machine, electrical testing equipment, break machine, acetylene torch, radios. Typical Duties: Performs service calls, work orders, preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, and reconditioning work. Disassembles and inspects system components, diagnosing malfunctions and recommending repairs or replacements. Has working knowledge of Building Automation Systems and HVAC equipment. Troubleshoots HVAC and mechanical systems, performing root cause analysis. Welds and braze all types of materials such as brass, copper, and aluminum alloys. Acts as an instructor, troubleshooter, and specialist, leading by example and seeking continual learning. Investigates shutdowns, documents findings, and communicates with customers and contractors. Works with trades and outside contractors, maintaining quality and controlling costs. Works with refrigerants and refrigeration equipment, documenting results in the university's CFC log, complying with EPA, local, and state laws. Qualifications:
High school diploma and 4-6 years of experience as a building HVAC and controls mechanic, or equivalent education and experience. Ability to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations. Knowledge of applicable codes and regulations. Preferred: associate's degree in a relevant field.
