Our client is seeking an experienced
Mechanical Engineer
to join their team full-time, onsite in Orlando, FL (based onsite at theme-park client location). This role involves mechanical engineering support on large-scale, high-impact projects, including full-system mechanical design, stress analysis, risk assessments, system integration, and commissioning. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in mechanical design, a strong analytical mindset, and the ability to lead technical efforts across multidisciplinary teams. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop fully integrated mechanical assembly systems that comply with local, national, and industry-specific engineering codes. Conduct mechanical analysis, including stress, fatigue, acceleration forces, load calculations, and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA). Select appropriate components and materials based on performance requirements and reliability considerations. Perform hazard analyses, risk mitigation planning, and ensure compliance with safety standards (especially related to Class 1 parts and redundant systems). Generate and maintain detailed documentation including theory of operation, system design descriptions, test plans, and maintenance procedures. Create mechanical system drawings, assembly schematics, and installation documentation using AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks. Design and troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic control systems. Understand and apply ride system design principles involving passenger acceleration limits, reach envelopes, ingress/egress planning, emergency evacuation scenarios, and worst-case control failure protocols. Support system integration projects in the entertainment, manufacturing, and industrial sectors. Lead project teams as technical lead, providing guidance to engineers, technicians, and contractors. Manage smaller projects ($50K-$250K) from planning through execution, including: Developing implementation plans and project schedules Assigning tasks and monitoring team performance Managing procurement, subcontractors, and change orders Communicating project scope, progress, and requirements with internal teams and clients Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering required. 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience, particularly in: Mechanical systems and component design Stress/acceleration/load analysis Familiarity with ASTM amusement ride safety standards Hands-on use of AutoCAD and SolidWorks Strong knowledge of contract documents, field data collection, system design, and problem-solving in multidisciplinary environments. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Windows-based tools. Ability to travel up to 35%, as required by projects.
