
Job Overview
Professional level sales position in the automotive parts business. The role is responsible for profitable growth through customer retention and expansion, partnering with the GM to manage and develop a team, and ensuring timely and accurate delivery of parts and services.
Primary Responsibilities
Maintain commercial customer relationships.
Provide GAS2 selling experience to commercial customers.
Achieve personal and store sales goals and service objectives.
Provide day‑to‑day supervisory support for team members.
Collaborate with the GM on coaching and developmental needs for team members.
Dispatch drivers to ensure delivery standards are achieved.
Maintain commercial stocking programs.
Build and maintain a network of second‑source suppliers.
Secondary Responsibilities
Maintain core bank and commercial returns.
Maintain commercial credit accounts.
Partner with the GM to ensure proper driver coverage.
Success Factors
Friendly communication with customers and peers.
Ability to locate and stock parts.
Safety knowledge and skills.
Proficiency operating inventory systems and store equipment.
Strong knowledge of parts and automotive systems.
Competence in operating POS and parts lookup systems.
ASE P2 certification or equivalent readiness.
Advanced solution and product quality recommendation ability.
Ability to source from multiple suppliers, including special order, FDO, and second source.
Advanced selling skills for commercial customers.
Strong multitasking and organizational skills.
Essential Job Skills
Working knowledge of automotive systems and diagnostic skills for engines, suspension, brakes, electronics, and exhaust.
Proficiency in written and spoken English; Spanish a plus.
Reading and interpreting safety rules, operating instructions, parts catalogs, and procedural manuals.
Following instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
Successful completion of the Parts Knowledge Assessment.
Basic math skills—addition, subtraction, multiplication, division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Strong organizational skills.
Understanding of commercial profitability concepts, market opportunities, and customer prioritization.
Willingness to work days, evenings, and weekends as needed.
Experience & Education
Minimum of 3 years of automotive parts experience.
Proven sales ability with a history of fulfilling customer transactions.
Formal or informal experience leading teams, supervising daily tasks, and achieving goals.
High school diploma or GED.
Certifications
ASE Certification preferred but not required.
Physical Demands
Primarily walking or standing; ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
Use of hands and fingers to handle, feel, and manipulate items; reach with hands and arms; lift, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as necessary.
Visual acuity for close, distance, color, depth, and focus adjustment.
Work Environment
Predominantly indoors but occasional outdoor work and exposure to weather conditions.
Interaction with moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, chemicals, electrical shock, explosives, or vibration.
Moderate noise level.
