The Steel PM/Estimator will estimate steel fabrication and installation projects by ensuring full understanding of project requirements through communication with customers, sales team, equipment suppliers, and vendors. Incorporate value engineering practices through knowledge of quality and efficient fabrication and installation practices. Essential Functions:

I. Securing Production Work Accurately estimate jobs to obtain work that will support yearly volume, with margins equal to or exceeding annual goals Stay current with available bid opportunities Understand each phase of the project and how work will be completed Deliver an estimate utilizing the competencies of a value engineer Find advantages over the competition and understand the risks of job being estimated Develop and maintain positive customer relations Participate as a key individual in client sales presentations Make site visits as required to obtain measurements of existing conditions and make assessments of field conditions Maintain a list of qualified vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers for each trade Provide estimate breakdowns for job costings prior to project commencement, and update with each change order and/or work scope II. Project Management Set up new project in ComputerEase accounting software, establishing project budget, payment terms and schedule Place purchase orders for the materials and services required for the project, based upon project parameters, best price and availability. Coordinate project start-up meeting with General Superintendent, Foreman, Vice President (if available), and President (if available) Maintain communication with Customer, General Superintendent and Foreman to keep abreast of current job conditions and determine if change orders are warranted Submit change orders, as required, in a timely manner Submit timely billing requests to accounting to match job progress and payment schedule Track job costs and manpower hours monthly for the duration of the project Prepare budget and status reports for review at the weekly Staff Meeting III. Other duties assigned as required Drafting Support (preferred, but not required) Prepare design drawings, submittal drawings, and shop detail drawings, as needed, using the latest version of AutoCAD software Prepare CNC nesting files for machine programming Experience/Requirements:

Communication Skills Mathematical Ability Organizational Skills Computational Ability Can work independently, and as part of a team High school diploma Eight (8) years construction estimating experience or four (4) year degree in engineering, construction management, or related field and four (4) years relevant experience. Proficient in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook) Basic first aid training (preferred) OSHA 10-hour training (preferred) MSHA Part 46 training (preferred) Made with love in AI.
