Overview
Traveling Superintendent, Construction – ARCO a Family of Construction Companies Location: Savannah, GA ARCO is seeking a Traveling Superintendent to lead ground-up, cold storage and light industrial construction projects, 100k sq ft and above. The role requires strong safety leadership, hands-on management of field operations from the project site, and a commitment to delivering projects on schedule, within budget, and to project specifications. Responsibilities
Attend post-award review meetings to receive project information and preplanning details. Collaborate with the project manager to prepare a construction schedule, organization structure, staffing, and equipment requirements. Direct and control the total construction project to meet specifications and schedules while optimizing profit. Assist the project manager/engineer with material shipments, permanent equipment, and approvals of shop drawings and material samples. Coordinate subcontractor activities to align with project schedules and progress. Inform supervisors and subcontractors promptly of schedule changes. Assist in preparing job progress and cost reports reflecting actual costs. Review and approve requisitions, field purchase orders, invoices, and other significant reports. Cooperate with the owner and representatives, keeping them informed of progress. Coordinate with architects or owner representatives to support project goals. Hold site meetings with the project manager and regional manager. Report regularly to the project manager on progress, plans, and potential issues affecting costs or schedules. Maintain a daily diary documenting significant project facts, events, conditions, and approvals. Adhere to the company safety program in all project phases. Make timely decisions under tight deadlines and organize people, tools, and equipment to manage multiple activities. Demonstrate leadership, address conflicts, and uphold quality by evaluating processes and incorporating customer feedback. Act with integrity and focus on meeting customer requirements and expectations. Qualifications
5–25 years of construction experience, with at least 5 years as a lead superintendent on cold storage projects of at least 100k sq ft. At least five years of recent experience in the Southeast. Willingness to travel nationally. Computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, and project scheduling programs. Current, valid driver’s license. Ability to meet physical demands of the job (standing/walking long periods, bending, climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds). Compensation and Benefits
