Job Summary:
The Registered Dietitian Specialist 1 is responsible for completing inpatient and/or outpatient nutritional assessments and reassessments according to scheduled timeframes and implementing appropriate interventions to improve the nutritional outcomes of patients. The role includes providing nutrition education to patients and family members, mentoring dietetic technicians, and acting as a clinical preceptor to dietetic students and/or other healthcare team members. Duties may be assigned in inpatient and/or clinic settings.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree or Master's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or a related nutrition field is required.
Knowledge and Skills:
Entry-level knowledge of clinical nutrition in the area of specialty. Ability to read, write legibly, and communicate professionally in English (Spanish preferred). Proficiency in using computers and relevant software, troubleshooting and calibrating patient care equipment. Effective communication skills, assertiveness, professionalism, and the ability to work calmly under pressure. Capable of leading, supervising, teaching, and collaborating with others. Critical thinking, independence, attention to detail, and basic math skills are essential. Sensory abilities include distinguishing colors and smells, visual acuity for reading screens and documents, and temperature discernment through touch.
Licensures and Certifications:
Certification from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (RD or RDN) is required.
