Our EY EDGE practice provides dedicated tax technical services to U.S. and global clients. EDGE stands for Exceptional Delivery and Growth Engine, operating in a technical environment with deep process and service delivery experience.
EY’s State and Local (SALT) team is a growing practice; as a Tax Senior Manager, you’ll immerse in state and local tax environments serving hedge funds, private equity, banking, and real estate clients.
Your Key Responsibilities
Analyze an evolving portfolio of complex tax operations to provide meaningful business insights.
Identify opportunities and risks and communicate these to clients.
Research current market trends to maintain credibility as a trusted advisor.
Develop clear, intelligent plans to improve clients’ tax activities.
Research clients’ business operations and build long‑lasting relationships to tailor advice.
Supervise a motivated team, ensuring they have the skills, knowledge, and opportunities to reach full potential.
Skills and Attributes for Success
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline.
CPA, licensed Attorney, or EA.
Minimum 8 years professional knowledge in state and local income/franchise tax processes.
Experience managing budgets, people, and projects.
Proven record of excellence in a professional services or tax organization.
Technical writing and research experience in a tax context.
Ability to prioritize multiple complex projects.
Strong influencing skills and confidence to question existing processes.
Ideally you will also have
Proven record in a professional services environment or in‑house experience in wealth and asset management.
Experience with Microsoft Excel, One Source Tax Compliance Software, Corptax, and/or Premium Pro.
Coaching and mentoring junior colleagues.
Adaptability to work with internal and client team members.
What We Look For We seek initiative, confidence, and a genuine desire to improve across the business. Strong Excel and software skills and the ability to handle complex data are required.
What We Offer You
Comprehensive compensation and benefits package with base salary ranges from $132,700 to $303,200 nationally, and $159,300 to $344,600 in NYC, Washington State, and California (excluding Sacramento). Total Rewards includes medical, dental, pension, 401(k), and paid time off.
Hybrid model: most client‑serving roles work in person 40‑60% of the time.
Flexible vacation policy: decide how much vacation you need; additional time off for holidays, breaks, family care, and other leaves.
