Purpose
The Activity Assistant supports the planning and execution of engaging, meaningful, and resident-centered programs that promote socialization, wellness, and quality of life for seniors. This role works closely with the Activities Director to encourage participation in recreational, social, and therapeutic activities that meet the physical, emotional, and cognitive needs of residents. The Activity Assistant helps create a positive, inclusive environment where residents feel valued, connected, and supported. Through creativity, compassion, and strong communication, this position plays a key role in enhancing the daily experience of residents.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required
Previous experience working with seniors preferred
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Must be able to pass a background check and meet state employment requirements
Basic computer skills for documentation and scheduling
Essential Functions
Assist in planning, organizing, and leading group and one-on-one activities
Encourage resident participation and engagement in programs
Support special events, outings, and holiday celebrations
Help set up, clean up, and organize activity spaces and supplies
Document resident participation and activity outcomes as required
Provide companionship and emotional support to residents
Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment
Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members
