Purpose Under the supervision of the Contracts Supervisor, performs duties such as janitorial services, painting, floor treatment, handyman work, hanging artifacts on walls, unclogging toilet, replacing faucets, repairing window closers, etc. This role will float between multiple contracts/office locations in North Central West Virginia regularly to perform janitorial or maintenance tasks.

Essential Functions Physical dexterity and ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to sweep, mop, dust, vacuum, strip floors, shampoo carpets, clean bathrooms, etc., and ability to inspect the crew's work. Assist with quality assurance checks as required. Ability to train and teach staff appropriate work skills/behaviors and interpersonal skills. Must have ability to work independently and have problem solving skills, flexibility, adaptability, basic math skills. Must be able to follow both written and verbal instructions and must have both written and verbal communication skills. Must have the communication and emotional skills to interact constantly, and the ability to prompt and motivate employees. Must have tact, diplomacy and sensitivity to the needs of people with disabilities. Must be able to make quick decisions, use good judgement and perform crisis intervention with people with disabilities.

Education, Training, and Experience Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. One year’s experience performing janitorial services and one year’s experience in handy work and/or technical expertise is required. The ability to use and/or be trained to use a computer, Microsoft Office, smart cell phone, email, texting, calling, and scheduling/time keeping apps is required. Must have dependable means of transportation and valid West Virginia driver’s license. Experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred. Must be able to obtain and maintain federal security clearance according to GSA clearance process, Aurora clearance process, as well as a state background check.

Managerial/Supervisory Skills Interprets and initiates standardized procedures, such as cleaning practices, assisting with quality assurance checks and customer relations. Call a Custodial Supervisor or the Project Manager when uncertain as to course of action.

Goodwill/Human Relations Skills The position requires the employee to be sensitive to the needs of and problems encountered by people who have disabilities. Must have the ability to prompt and motivate others to do their jobs. Must have tact and diplomacy and encourage people toward a specific goal. This person has much customer and public contact and must understand people, disabled and non-disabled.

Primary Duties

Perform janitorial duties.

Perform snow removal/lawn care responsibilities.

Prompts and motivates others to carry out the essential functions of their jobs.

Trains and teaches staff appropriate work skills/behaviors and interpersonal skills.

Assists with inventory of supplies and equipment.

Provides on-the-job training whenever possible.

Promotes safety and provides safety tips and/or safety training whenever possible.

Fills in for staff as needed, such as a call off or scheduled time off.

Travels to all contract sites regularly to assist with quality assurance checks.

Update all contract specific data sheets and daily checklists, using Microsoft Excel and/or Microsoft Word.

Perform walk-through assessments and prepare cost estimates or schedule with outside companies for services (i.e. HVAC, plumbing, etc.)

Perform basic repairs.

Perform routine maintenance (painting, wall damage, etc.).

Move heavy furniture, appliances, and equipment.

Perform weekly vehicle assessments and basic maintenance.

Assist supervisor with employee evaluations.

Secondary Responsibilities

Attend training and meetings as required.

Other duties as assigned.
