Position Summary

The Utility Custodian keeps the college buildings in a clean and sanitary condition. Creates and maintains a safe, clean, and inviting campus for students, employees, and the public. Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. One year of work experience in cleaning and/or custodial services. Good working knowledge of housekeeping and general maintenance procedures. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Preferred Qualifications

Two (2) years of work experience in cleaning and/or custodial services. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Check, restock, and clean restrooms. Sweep, scrub, mop, and spot clean. Use emergency clean-up kits to clean bodily fluids as needed. Clean lobbies, lounges, corridors, elevators, stairways, and classrooms. Clean rugs, carpets, and upholstered furniture. Dust furniture and clean walls, ceilings, and woodwork. Wash windows, door panels, and thresholds. Empty wastebaskets. Keep outside entrances clean (remove leaves, dirt, trash, and debris). Transport trash and waste to disposal area. Perform minor plumbing procedures. Spread ice melt and remove snow as needed. Maintain cleaning equipment, supplies, and products. Be willing to adapt to the needs of the college. Basic computer knowledge to complete training, work orders, etc. Uniform and personal appearance kept clean and professional. Meet required standards and within set time limits. Ensure security of assigned master key. Attend specialized training activities that enhance performance. Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information. Other duties as assigned. Physical Demands

Regularly operate and use computers, phones, and other electronic equipment. Communicate accurately with others. Move around office and/or campus to attend meetings, access files, machinery, or job-related tools. Lift and/or move equipment, tools, or paperwork up to 75 pounds. Reach, stoop, kneel, or crouch to adjust or collect equipment and/or supplies. Adjust focus for close and distance vision. Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; and in outside weather conditions; exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and risk of electrical shock. Workplace Environment
