Recycling Europe (formerly EuRIC) is the voice of Europe’s recycling industry, including 80 national federations and companies across 24 EU & EFTA countries. From metals and paper to plastics, packaging, textiles, tyres, ships, ELVs, construction & demolition waste and WEEE, our members transform waste into resources—powering Europe’s circular economy, ensuring resource autonomy, and boosting competitiveness and sustainable industrialisation across the continent.

Based in Brussels, our team engages with EU institutions, industry, civil society, and technical experts to build policies that deliver sustainable, circular, and economically viable solutions for Europe.

Qualifications and skills

2 to 3 years of relevant professional experience in EU public affairs, sustainability, circular economy, or environmental policy.

Knowledge of circular economy frameworks, waste legislation and ideally, of metals, critical raw materials and battery recycling policy.

Strong understanding of EU legislative processes, key stakeholders, and institutional dynamics.

Proven experience drafting position papers, amendments, policy briefs, or technical notes.

Experience representing organisations toward EU institutions, alliances, or expert groups.

Ability to analyse complex regulatory proposals and translate them into clear advocacy messages.

Confident working with diverse stakeholders — industry, NGOs, policymakers, researchers.

Strong organisational skills and experience coordinating policy files.

Team player with a proactive, solutions-driven mindset.

Excellent command of English; additional EU languages are an asset.

Experience in working for an industry association is a plus.

Your main responsibilities

Lead policy work of Recycling Europe’s metal recycling branches (Ferrous & Non-Ferrous).

Monitor and analyse EU legislative developments affecting the recycling sector.

Develop policy positions, technical recommendations, notes, amendments, and presentations.

Represent Recycling Europe at high-level meetings, conferences, and working groups across Europe.

A permanent contract of 38h per week.
