As we continue to expand, we are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper/Auditor to support our financial operations, ensure compliance, and maintain accuracy. Position Overview: The Bookkeeper/Auditor is responsible for overseeing billing, auditing, and bookkeeping functions across multiple clinics and specialties. This role requires deep knowledge of rules, insurance billing, financial reconciliation, compliance, and multi-specialty healthcare workflows. Position Summary The Controller / Medical Billing Manager is responsible for overseeing all billing, auditing, and bookkeeping operations across a multidisciplinary healthcare organization. This role ensures accurate revenue cycle management, financial reconciliation, regulatory compliance, and efficient workflows across chiropractic, acupuncture, massage therapy, naturopathic, primary care, behavioral health, and dental services.
This position requires advanced knowledge of medical billing rules, payer requirements, auditing processes, and multi-specialty workflows. The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, proactive, and comfortable supporting a fast-growing healthcare organization in our finance and billing department.
Key Responsibilities Billing & Audit Oversight
Oversee end-to-end billing operations across all specialties.
Audit claims to ensure accuracy, compliance, and proper supporting documentation.
Ensure correct CPT/ICD-10 coding, charge entry, claim submission, payment posting, and adjustments.
Identify billing discrepancies, trends, and system issues; implement corrective actions.
Monitor accounts receivable, reduce aging balances, and oversee denial and appeal follow-up.
Ensure compliance with payer policies, federal/state regulations, and internal documentation standards.
Provide training and ongoing support to staff regarding compliant billing practices.
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations of payments and deposits.
Manage EFT batches, merchant processing deposits, patient balances, and refunds.
Support month-end close by preparing reports, summaries, and audit documentation.
Track expenses and assist leadership with cost-control and efficiency initiatives.
Ensure financial accuracy across multiple clinics and service lines.
Payroll processing
Leadership & Operational Support
Support and guide billing and finance staff to maintain accuracy, efficiency, and accountability.
Develop, implement, and maintain workflow, policies, and SOPs.
Communicate regularly with leadership on compliance issues, trends, revenue cycle and financial performance.
Collaborate with clinic managers and providers to resolve documentation, coding, or billing concerns.
Assist in continuous process improvement as the organization grows.
Required Qualifications
Minimum
3+ years of medical billing and finance experience
with strong insurance knowledge.
Advanced understanding of
CPT, ICD-10, modifiers, and payer compliance .
Demonstrated experience in
finance, bookkeeping, reconciliations, and auditing .
Experience working with
EHR/EMR systems .
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to maintain
HIPAA compliance and confidentiality .
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Leadership or team oversight experience.
Multi-specialty billing experience (primary care, behavioral health, dental, chiropractic, acupuncture, etc.).
Finance experience including QuickBooks, payroll processing, and invoice processing.
Experience supporting or scaling growing healthcare organizations.
