Description As a Laborer, you will work under the direction of the Foreman and perform a variety of construction-related tasks. This includes heavy lifting, digging, equipment cleaning, site preparation, pipe system assembly, and operating construction tools and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Digging, spreading and leveling dirt, sand and gravel using a pick, shovel or rake.
Lift, carry and hold construction materials, tools and supplies.
Clean tools, equipment, materials and work area.
Mix, pour and spread concrete, asphalt, gravel and other materials using hand tools.
Join, wrap and seal sections of pipe.
Perform a variety of routine non-machine tasks such as removing forms, filling excavations, placing pipe sections in trench and assembling sections of pipe.
Perform a variety of machine tasks such as tapping soil, jack hammering and assisting in the excavation of pipe.
Must be able to climb on, off, and under various pieces of equipment, and physically access all parts of equipment to perform job requirements.
Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Safety Manager.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Highschool diploma or equivalent preferred
One (1) year of heavy civil construction experience preferred
Must be able to travel if needed
A valid driver’s license
Physical Requirements:
Heavy physical activity performing strenuous day activities of a primarily productive/technical nature.
Must be able to physically lift and carry up to 100 lbs.
Must be able to climb on, off, and under various pieces of equipment, and physically access all parts of equipment to perform job requirements.
Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers. Ability to perceive attributes of objects and materials.
