Overview
Benefits Manager is responsible for developing, administering, and optimizing comprehensive employee benefits and wellness programs that support the well-being of employees and align with organizational goals. This role ensures compliance with all applicable regulations, enhances the employee experience, and provides strategic leadership across benefits design, vendor management, and wellness initiatives. This role also oversees the company’s leave of absence, disability, workplace accommodation, and workers' compensation programs.
This is a fully remote position that offers a competitive salary range of $125,000 to $150,000, plus an annual bonus. You'll also receive our excellent benefits package, which includes medical coverage starting on day one and a company-matched 401(k). Compensation may vary based on experience, location, and other job-related factors.
Responsibilities
Develop, administer, and evaluate comprehensive benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement plans, wellness initiatives, and voluntary benefits.
Maintain accurate records and oversee benefits administration systems.
Lead annual open enrollment, including system configuration, communication planning, and issue resolution.
Ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., ERISA, HIPAA, ACA).
Manage annual filings, reporting requirements, and audits.
Analyze utilization data, market trends, and employee feedback to improve plan design and cost-effectiveness.
Identify and develop benefit strategies using data analytics to mitigate costs and support value-based plan design.
Partner with brokers, vendors, and carriers to negotiate renewals, plan terms, and service agreements.
Manage vendor relationships to ensure high-quality, cost-effective benefit programs.
Design and execute company-wide wellness initiatives.
Leverage partnerships, wellness tools, and resources to enhance engagement and overall employee well-being.
Develop communication and marketing campaigns to promote wellness programs, events, and healthy lifestyle habits.
Oversee the coordination of all employee leave programs (FMLA, ADA, parental, medical, and other statutory or company-sponsored leaves).
Maintain strict confidentiality of employee health information and ensure HIPAA compliance.
Partner with HR Business Partners, Leaders, and Payroll on leave- and disability-related matters.
Recommend new policies and procedures to strengthen employee health and wellness initiatives.
Work closely with payroll and HR sub-teams to ensure accurate deductions, data integrity, and a seamless employee experience.
Lead, mentor, and develop Benefits & Leave Specialist.
Conduct assessments and surveys to evaluate employee health and wellness needs.
Perform other projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in benefits design and administration, and demonstrated experience in leave management (FMLA, ADA, etc.).
Strong understanding of health outcomes, health practices, and related policies.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Highly process-oriented, detail-focused, analytical, and adept at problem-solving.
Strong project management skills and experience.
Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including team building, influence, results orientation, communication, conflict resolution, and motivation.
Strong work ethic and high level of self-initiative.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and relationship-building abilities.
Strong planning, prioritization, and organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization.
Proficiency in MS Office and HRIS systems, Workday a plus.
