The third Monday in January was designated as an annual federal holiday and national day of service by Congress. This day is to bring attention to real needs affecting our local communities. The slogan is “Make it a day ON, not a day off!” mlkday.gov
MLK Day of Service Home Construction Volunteer Day Monday, January 19th, is Martin Luther King, Jr. National Day of Service . For over 30 years, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day has been observed with a National Day of Action. Volunteers across the United States step forward to lend a hand and make a positive impact in their community, honoring Dr. King's memory and legacy.
We would like to invite you to join Habitat on Monday, January 19, 2026 , to volunteer on a new home construction site. The volunteer day would be 8:15am-4:00pm. No construction experience is needed we will provide all the instruction, safety equipment and tools needed for the day. We will be working on an interior opportunity which could include installing trim, flooring, appliances and cabinetry. Location and safety information will be emailed to participants the Thursday before the shift. will share in the morning meet and greet how Dr. King’s vision for building the “beloved community” and Habitat’s commitment to making it a reality.
