Responsibilities

Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.

Perform general clean‑up duties using a shovel, broom, chipping hammer, jack hammer, concrete saw, walk‑behind skidsteer, wheelbarrow, sledge hammer, and motorized sweepers, and vacuum truck.

Assist in removing and installing refractory lining in the kiln, pre‑heat tower, coolers, and other related plant equipment.

Perform cleaning of plant and mobile equipment, including unplugging chutes and silo feeders; cleaning the inside of dust collectors and tower cyclones using water and air hoses; unplugging pre‑heat tower vessels, feed pipes, conveyor drags, augers, belt conveyors and troughing rolls.

Clean building roofs and remove snow when necessary; occasionally clean drain ditches and catch basins; use shovels and an air lance to perform these duties.

Assist in screening grinding balls and recharging mill grinding ball load.

Perform janitorial and ground‑keeping duties such as changing air conditioner filters, mowing, weeding, fertilizing, watering, and trimming.

Provide vacation relief, fill other positions as needed, and perform other duties assigned by Shift Supervisor or Production Manager.

Operate mobile equipment: forklift, dump truck, bobcat, front‑end loader, haul truck, water truck, sweeper, backhoe, and man‑lift.

Continuously observe all safety rules and keep work areas clean.

Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

High school graduation or equivalent (required).

Minimum two years of experience working in a related manufacturing organization (preferred).

Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.; willingness to learn (training provided).

Ability to safely and effectively use and operate a shovel, broom, chipping hammer, walk‑behind skidsteer, concrete saw, loader, motorized sweeper, brick saw, water hose, air hose, sledgehammer, air lance and other equipment as assigned while performing job duties.

Work Environment Work is performed in a shop environment as well as outdoors throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations up to 250 ft, all weather conditions, and normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure. Work involves walking over rough surfaces, climbing ladders up to 20 ft, climbing stairs, bending, pushing, pulling, working in awkward positions and confined spaces, and lifting materials up to 50 lb.
