Diversion Specialist - The dirtiest job you’ll ever love! So you want to make an impact on our planet? Here’s your opportunity. The Diversion Specialist role is part investigator and part instructor. You are a sleeve-rolling, boots on the ground individual with a good pair of gloves and a strong stomach. Our Diversion Specialists are responsible for supporting the continued success of Divert’s diversion programs and products. As part of the Customer Success team, you’ll work directly with the Field Team Regional Manager and the Customer Solutions team to identify opportunities and support customers in the field to enhance diversion practices. This role requires curiosity, investigation and analysis. Yes, you’ll be analyzing food waste, but you’ll also have the opportunity to travel to major cities/towns across the United States, work directly with Divert’s customers and make that significant impact you’ve been talking about.
Reporting to the Field Team Regional Manager, you’re a strong self-starter and able to organize your time and priorities with minimal supervision.
Travel Requirements and Schedule: 75% Travel
Field Work: Monday-Thursday/Friday
Field Work: 3 weeks per month
Work from Home: 1 week per month
Customer locations are primarily in the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, Midwest, Southeast and West Coast
Location: the person in this role will be required to live on the west coast; ideally northern CA, OR, WA. Qualified applicants in this area will be given priority. The rocky mountain region and TX will be considered as secondary locations for applicants.
Being located near a major / international airport is highly preferred for ease of travel
Responsibilities
Perform on-site waste audits at client locations with fellow Diversion Specialists. Gather insightful data, identify opportunities, and facilitate on-site training
Perform waste assessments for prospective customers as part of the Business Development process and generate Assessment reports for distribution by Account Managers
Store Training, Outreach & Performance (25%)
Work with the Field Team Regional Manager to provide training and monitor food recycling programs
Visit stores following new launches to perform pulse checks, ensure compliance and participation
Act on the insights derived through experience, communication and data to improve store-level recycling during store visitations
Appropriately respond to store problems/issues and resolve in a timely fashion - keep all stakeholders engaged & informed as needed
Continue to identify opportunities to add value for customers through your expertise on Divert’s programs/products and presence in stores and waste generator locations
Physical Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential functions for this position and meet the physical requirements needed to perform them. While performing the essential functions of this job, the associate:
Must be able to lift, push, pull, carry up to 40 lbs. frequently
Must be able to bend, stand, walk, sit, kneel frequently
Must be able to complete repetitive tasks throughout their shift
Is able to handle outdoor weather conditions, including heat, humidity and rain
What We’re Looking For:
0-3 years’ experience in retail, supermarket, or waste management experience.
Current and valid driver's license and successful completion of an MVR is required
Comfortable with driving as part of the regular workday is required
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, analytical/problem-solving abilities
Proactively seek opportunities for improvement and implement new initiatives with enthusiasm
Basic understanding or comfortable with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
What's In It for You?
Compensation Range: $60,000 - $70,000 annually
