Interior Designer
to support school modernization and facilities projects across the District. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with school staff, facilities teams, designers, and vendors to create
functional, safe, and welcoming learning environments —from space planning and finishes to furniture and equipment selection. *Salary Range: $130K/Year-$145K/Year - Dependent on Candidate's Qualifications Key Responsibilities: Partner with school and facilities stakeholders to assess furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) needs and develop practical solutions within budget and schedule Create
space plans, interior layouts, and interior architectural concepts
for K-12 school environments Select furnishings, equipment, and interior finishes in alignment with District and industry standards Prepare
furniture and equipment cost estimates
to support design and procurement decisions Review construction documents and visit project sites to ensure designs meet safety, accessibility (ADA), fire/life safety, sustainability, and code requirements Coordinate meetings and site visits to track project progress and address design needs Support procurement by developing specifications, scopes, and coordinating furniture and equipment orders Work directly with manufacturers and vendors, including custom product coordination Produce interior drawings, visual aids, and presentation materials for review and approval Maintain and update approved furniture, equipment, vendor, and manufacturer lists Assist schools with furniture and equipment replacements as needed Support additional FIG (Furniture and Interior Group) and Facilities Services initiatives as assigned Experience Minimum
8 years of full-time professional experience
in interior design, including space planning, interior finishes, furniture, and equipment coordination Experience with
public agencies, school construction, or modernization projects
is strongly preferred Education Bachelor’s degree preferably in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field OR Completion of
40 semester units
or equivalent related to interior design from a recognized college or university and additional two (2) years' experience to compensate for education. Skills & Tools Strong foundation in interior design principles, space planning, and color theory Experience specifying furniture and equipment (educational facilities preferred) Knowledge of building codes, ADA, and fire/life safety requirements related to interiors Comfortable preparing timelines, budgets, and cost estimates Proficient with: AutoCAD Bluebeam Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint (Revit experience is a plus) Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications Strong communication skills and ability to present design concepts clearly Willingness to travel to school sites and District facilities as needed We offer one of the most competitive benefit packages in the industry.
