We are looking for a Mechanical Designer that provides the highest quality design and technical support for the Dover Food Retail-refrigeration display cases. Responsibilities
Independently reviews specifications for the project. Determines what items need to be sized and ordered. Provides customer drawings. Meets tight design deadlines and work OT when required. Leads technical discussions regarding design issues or proposed changes, internal and external to the company. Completes detail designs, including but not limited to drawing and Bill of Materials creation for shop manufacturing and assembly. Works hand in hand with the Electrical Design group to ensure accurate and consistent design expectations between the groups. Works with all areas within production to ensure equipment is design / manufactured / assembled and shipped with the utmost quality and with the customer and the customer’s delivery always being at the forefront of decisions. Develops strong relationships with all departments of the company, not just Engineering. Works with suppliers to obtain information on commercial components to be used with equipment. Other tasks as assigned by manager. Willingness to work across various areas of the production shop floor (Laser, Fabrication, Welding, Assembly and Testing) to gain understanding of operations for later design work. Responsible for the organization and compilation of project-specific documentation supplied to internal and external customers, including post-shipment support. Occasional documentation maintenance may be required, such as updating existing operating instructions or developing new ones. Work environment includes office and factory floor, with potential exposure to airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration, and loud noise; PPE may be required. Basic Qualifications
An associate’s degree or higher in mechanical design (or equivalent / comparable work experience) 3D CAD software experience – SolidWorks Preferred Qualifications
Technical training with sheet metal design, machine shop function, electric motors, gears/mechanical devices 3D CAD design experience (preferably sheet metal) Bill of Material creation / interaction Exposure to a fabrication and/or welding shop environment To be a great fit for the role
