About the Role & Team
The Disney Direct to Consumer (DTC) team is building the future of media and entertainment. In six years, we’ve created the must‑have streaming homes of Marvel, Pixar, Walt Disney Animation, 20th Century Studios, Hulu, and ESPN (and many more iconic brands). We do this through utilizing cutting‑edge technology and best‑in‑class storytelling – stories that may start at Disney Streaming, but go on to impact our theatrical movies, consumer products, parks, resorts, cruises, and media networks.
The DTC Subscriber Growth & Monetization (SGM) team is a talented and highly visible team of professionals with backgrounds in consulting, investment banking, operational planning, and strategic finance. The SGM team are the owners of subscriber, revenue, engagement, and monetization strategic planning and reporting to the DTC executive leadership team. This analyst position sits within the Pricing & Yield Management team responsible for driving research, analysis and decisions around pricing strategy and promotion optimization.
What You Will Do Reporting to the Manager, DTC Pricing and Yield Management, the Analyst will provide analytical and business modeling support to drive and optimize our global subscription pricing for Disney+, Hulu, and the Disney Bundle portfolio. Illustrative examples include ideating, evaluating, and tracking subscriber acquisition, retention, and engagement initiatives, and analyzing proprietary pricing and promotions research to inform growth and monetization opportunities.
Given the dynamic scope of Pricing & Yield Management, projects will often be complex, fluid, and involve multiple stakeholders. Success in this role requires robust analytical skills with an interest in leveraging data to solve problems, as well as ability to build and maintain complex financial models. The Analyst will be expected to work independently on projects and adeptly manage expectations of peers and cross‑functional partners across Subscriber Growth, Business Operations, Product, Data & Analytics, and regional teams.
Responsibilities This hands‑on role requires a strong understanding of the B2C subscription model, and more specifically SVOD streaming business models, and their positioning within the larger entertainment landscape. The right candidate will benefit from prior experience in pricing and/or financial modelling work.
Responsibilities include:
Optimize subscription pricing across all products in the larger Disney+ portfolio to support company‑wide objectives
Develop complex pricing models that incorporate both consumer research surveys and historical price elasticity data
Partner with in‑house and external Research/Insights groups to translate customer survey data into actionable findings to apply to various pricing scenarios
Create and collaborate on robust monitoring analytics to track pricing impact across various subscriber metrics such as acquisition and retention, and provide recommendations on how learnings can be incorporated into future business decisions
Collaborate with broader Subscriber Growth & Monetization team to incorporate analysis into monthly, annual, or long‑range subscriber planning
Primarily focus on US and Canada business objectives, but with eventual expansion to other Disney+ regions
Maintain a competitive pricing and promotions tracker which will be an integral part of short‑term and long‑term price and promotion setting
Provide DTC stakeholders with highly visible, ad‑hoc analysis, insights, and executive‑level presentations to support key business objectives surrounding pricing scenarios, and post‑mortems
Work in partnership with regional counterparts on pricing and promotion research best practices, as well as assist in building region‑specific pricing models and promotional frameworks
Required Qualifications & Skills
0‑2 years of relevant experience in investment banking, management consulting, direct‑to‑consumer strategy, corporate/product strategy, or similar fields
Impeccable Excel skills with experience navigating large data sets, building financial/subscription models, and tackling broader analytical analyses
Excellent PowerPoint and accompanying communication skills, with an ability to distill complex ideas into structured outputs and present to all levels of management
Thrive in ambiguity with a deliverable‑focused attitude, strong work ethic, ability to prioritize, and resolve an array of issues simultaneously
Ability to work well in teams, both within the group and with other business units
Capable of juggling multiple tasks and projects at the same time, while keeping leaders properly informed
Familiarity with working in or with global, large organizations is a plus
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in pricing and/or promotion strategy projects is a strong plus
Knowledge and understanding of subscription / DTC KPIs and media & entertainment industry experience is a strong plus
Analytics experience with Looker and Tableau is strongly preferred
Required Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree from a top‑tier school with a major in Finance, Economics or similar quantitative discipline
Additional Information
Local to NYC‑area with ability to work in the office up to 4 days a week.
The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $89,000.00 – $122,300.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long‑term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
