Job description:

General Description Superintendent’s main duties are ensuring maximum productivity of a job and meeting customer expectations. A Superintendent reports directly to a General Superintendent. Among a Superintendent’s responsibilities are pre-production planning, setting daily production targets, coaching & developing Foreman and meeting with customer on a regular basis

General Duties

Assuring quality and safety on each job

Don Marios, creating labor budgets and schedules, updating as appropriate

Creating weekly/monthly production schedule with assistance from Foreman, including setting targets, defining right crew size and skill/wage rate mix and identifying right equipment for intended use

Verifies correct installation and adherence to the plans and specifications at each major project.

Coaching Foreman and crew on best practices to maximize efficiency

Attending meetings with customer/architect, including communicating schedule and requirements to ensure efficient production to customer

Scheduling and supervising subcontractors

Completing administrative work, including time approval, safety documents, extra work tickets, percentage complete for billings, accurately and timely

Performing annual Foreman reviews

Ensures field reviews are being conducted by foreman on time

Approve or review material request forms as appropriate

Monthly Cost-to-complete/SOV reviews for billing verification.

Leadership & Management

Implements and exceeds current company policy, systems and procedures of all Field Operations, Safety, Quality Control, and Technical Training Programs

Adheres to and embraces LDI’s company doctrine, values and mission statement and also ensure his/her direct reports do the same

Oversees proper and efficient use of equipment and tools in the field

Conducts bi-weekly Foreman meetings

Trains and evaluates assigned Foremen

Ensures that all new employees are trained on proper LDI policies and procedures, company culture, and proper project management practices

Conducts all transactions in compliance with all LDI company policies, procedures, standards and practices

Utilize all forms of technology for enhanced communication and organization with Construction Teams including; Microsoft 365, Outlook email, Outlook calendar, OneDrive, Planner, To Do, Excel, Word

Be professional, resourceful, have initiative, the ability to work under pressure, have commitment, be able to delegate, and great attention to detail

Ensures foreman understand maximum lifting capacities on landscape equipment.

Safety

Ensures that all LDI safety policies and OSHA regulations are met and high levels of productivity and quality are performed at all times

Immediately reports any employee injuries to Human Resources and/or Safety Officer

Enforcement of all field employees to wear appropriate uniform and PPE’s for job functions

Skills/Abilities

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and evenings, as required

Ability to read, interpret, and follow construction plans

Ability to understand and carry out instructions and to complete work assignments correctly

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and other employees.

Understands production rates

Understands and can train on labor tracking

Can create duration schedules

View bids and identify bid busts / boosts

Education/Experience/Licenses/Certifications

10+ years of landscape construction or related experience

Valid Driver’s License

Demonstrated leadership/management experience.

OSHA 30

First Aid/ CPR

Work Environment/Physical Requirements

Work in/or about situations near direct automotive traffic

Work near or about natural bodies of water

Work 8+ hours per day with applicable breaks x 5 days/week (some overtime/weekend work required)

Ability to work in extreme conditions – temperatures may exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit

Ability to work in direct sunlight for extended periods of time

Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs.
