Accept, verify fees, and record all documents presented for land records. Accept, verify fees, and file new law, chancery, and miscellaneous actions; issue services, enter pleadings and orders, and process orders; update and maintain civil, criminal, and miscellaneous indexes. Enter, scan, prepare criminal case files and paperwork; attend criminal court sessions; prepare, scan, and process case files and court orders; prepare and distribute criminal dockets; enter case information in the Circuit Court Case Management System. Perform general office tasks including issuing marriage licenses; recording DD‑214 military records; preparing and administering oaths of office; assisting the general public; answering phone; composing correspondence to attorneys, fiduciaries, and the general public to clarify requirements for certain legal transactions or to interpret points of law. Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented with coursework or experience in business administration or a related field; experience in the Office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court preferred. Licenses or Certifications
None. Salary and Benefits
The starting salary range for this FLSA non‑exempt position is
$39,907.09 - $44,279 , commensurate with qualifications, experience, and internal equity. The County offers an excellent benefits package, including Virginia Retirement System, health and dental insurance, vacation and sick leave, and holidays. The successful candidate must pass a pre‑employment, post‑offer drug screening and background check. Application Process
