Overview
We are seeking a full-time Marine Sales Manager 1 in the Michigan area. In this role, you will be responsible for being a highly motivated sales professional responsible for developing new retail and OEM sales and cultivating and expanding relationships with Garmin marine and audio dealers. This position will develop, coordinate, present, and implement product training programs to key Garmin customers as needed including Garmin technical dealers and will be an alternate point of contact for many of our partners. In this role, travel is required as this individual will attend major trade shows and periodic regional events as well as support on‑site meetings with customers and industry partners.
Essential Functions
Develop and execute strategies to increase market share and profits
Meet or exceed sales objectives while maintaining acceptable gross margins
Establish and execute sales plans and sales promotions
Work closely with business partners to develop new programs for OEM, retail and consumer use
Leverage product knowledge to create sales strategies attractive to potential dealers
Develop, maintain and share Garmin product knowledge with dealers and OEMS
Deliver training seminars to dealer network and coordinate associated training activities with little to no supervision, exercising independent judgement as to how best to meet the individual training needs of the specific customer
Remain current on marine industry and technology trends
Develop a strong rapport with the team to support the marine segments goals which can include working outside of typical territory and or/accounts such as for shows, events, open houses, and trainings
Manage large accounts with excellent project skills including distribution, OEM, and national retailers
Create and make sales presentations to prospects and existing accounts
Prepare and maintain monthly sales forecasts
Communicate market requirements effectively to product development teams
Attend and coordinate trade shows
Travel with little or no supervision which can include immediate territory or any other territory based on team needs
Maintain product and pricing knowledge
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
AND
a minimum of 1 year of experience in marine, outdoor recreation, OEM or adjacent industry sales and marketing (including outside sales, retail sales, technical sales or sales into a retail environment) with a proven track record in meeting sales targets
OR
an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
Must demonstrate proven track record of sales successes
Demonstrates a customer service focus with proven experience in relationship building and providing quality customer service experiences
Exceptional communication oral/written and interpersonal relationship skills
Superior organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality
Must be an articulate and fluent communicator, written and verbal, and at ease with public speaking
Ability to prioritize and multi‑task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment
Must possess the ability to maintain flexibility to travel (75% of time or greater) and travel flexes with the season
Desired Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in managing retail, OEM, distribution channels and/or dealer networks
Extensive personal experience in fishing and boating
Business to Business sales experience
Experience in audio markets and product knowledge
Excellent product knowledge of communication and navigation systems, sonar, radar, audio
Demonstrates a proficient fundamental understanding of Garmin’s core consumer business product lines
Marine certifications such as NMEA, ABYC or CMET
