Position Summary: Responsible for purchasing materials, supplies or equipment for a business. Duties include negotiating deals with suppliers, researching item selections, and taking inventory of current products. Procures materials or other goods and coordinates activities involved with purchasing products and services, such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and advertising. Receives and reviews requisitions for goods or services. Communicates with vendors for product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule. Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items. Expedites orders and requests as needed. Estimates values based on market price knowledge. Determines procurement method, such as direct purchase or bid. Prepares purchase orders or bid requests. Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limits and scope of authority. Maintains procurement records, including items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories. Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action. Keeps abreast of market trends, changes in business practices in assigned markets, new or altered types of materials entering the market, etc. May work with manufacturers or persuade potential vendors to manufacture custom‑designed items according to user specifications and needs. May approve invoices for payment and expedite delivery of goods to users.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Reviews requisitions.

Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.

Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items.

Estimates values according to knowledge of market price.

Determines method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid.

Prepares purchase orders or bid requests.

Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.

Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.

Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.

Approves invoices for payment.

Expedites delivery of goods to users.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

0-2 years of relevant experience.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner or develop alternative solutions.

Proficient in the use of all Microsoft Office programs and Windows operating system.

Ability to thrive in a changing, fast‑paced, growing, and dynamic business.

Detail oriented and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Physical Requirements

Extended screen time.

Long periods of sitting.

Potentially long hours.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Travel Required: Minimal.
