Overview We are seeking determined candidates for an entry‑level or certified diesel/trailer technician position in our maintenance shop. The role involves maintaining and repairing tractors and trailers in a fleet that is unique to the industry.
Schedule Monday‑Friday, 1st Shift
Responsibilities
Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on diesel engines, including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid level checks.
Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and computer software.
Perform scheduled and unscheduled repairs, ensuring minimal downtime.
Use MCK’s tools and technologies to log, research, and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics.
Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
Collaborate with the maintenance team to prioritize and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
Comply with all safety protocols and procedures; keep the work area clean and safe.
Learn new skills through MCK’s technician training or other approved courses.
Work on other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Fabricate and build specialized platforms for cargo management (trailer experience).
Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair trailer bodies, systems, and components.
Perform preventative maintenance measures on trailers.
Maintain hubs and axles; adjust or replace when required.
Inspect, service, and replace trailer parts, including tires.
Check and repair brake, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
Test all systems and equipment for performance issues.
Ensure trailers meet U.S. Department of Transportation road safety requirements.
Compile inspection reports, document repairs, and report findings to management.
Qualifications
Reading and writing ability.
Technical training in related fields.
Ability to learn basic mechanical tasks.
Welding and fabrication certifications preferred.
Expertise in welding preferred but not required.
ASE certification preferred but not required.
CDL‑A preferred but not required.
Salary Based on experience and qualifications.
