Position Summary This position exists to protect University researchers and clinicians interested in working with commercial partners to further research or clinical trials. As a Contracts Specialist this person interacts with faculty and outside entities such as companies and CROs to analyze contract terms, provide risk assessment for the University and promote conformity in contractual agreements relating to University of Nebraska Medical Center research. Within Sponsored Programs Administration, this person is primarily responsible for drafting and negotiating sponsored research, clinical trials and other intellectual property related agreements, assisting with the submission of proposals which will result in a contract-based award, monitoring the terms of the agreements, maintaining regular contact with legal and IRB / IACUC for compliance issues and ensuring University compliance in contracts and agreements.

Ensure University compliance in contracts and agreements.
Qualifications
Required Education
– Bachelor's degree in a related field. (Post high school education may be considered.)
Preferred Education
– Master’s degree or JD in a related field. Knowledge of University financial and administrative policies and procedures is preferred.
Required Experience
– 3 years of relevant contract negotiation experience in a medical research environment.

Ability to handle a complex portfolio of work in an intensive multi-tasking environment.
Well-developed organizational, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to work well as part of a team.
Preferred Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
– Thorough working knowledge of PC‑based tools including Microsoft Office Suite, database administration and other related software.
