The Gas Pipefitter is a key role in the construction, maintenance, replacement, and repair of natural gas distribution infrastructure.

Job Summary The Gas Pipefitter performs fusing tasks for new construction, repair, and maintenance of existing gas utility lines. Typical duties include fusing pipe casings, vault lids, pipe fittings, metal parts, hot gas mains, and fabricating special parts and apparatus.

Responsibilities

Support crew with handling and fusing gas pipe.

Fuse pipe that is ditched or drilled in the ground.

Ensure every fuse meets quality standards.

Keep tools in complete working order.

Locate utilities by hand with a shovel and probe.

Manage inventory on the truck.

Teach other employees how to fuse pipe to the correct specs.

Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.

Qualifications Minimum

High school diploma or equivalent.

1 year of gas pipeline experience.

Preferred

Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

2 or more years of gas pipeline experience.

Operating Qualification (OQ) certifications.

Physical Demands and Work Environment This role requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting (up to 50 pounds), and working in inclement weather. Precise hand‑eye coordination and the ability to distinguish colors are essential.
